On completion of this module, you should be able to,
1. Apply the relevant family and community perspectives in patient management
2. Provide comprehensive care in primary healthcare facilities
3. Apply the principles of epidemiology and health promotion (in differing roles of medical graduates) through the health system in Sri Lanka
4. Carry out legal and statutory duties related to public health expected of a medical officer conforming to national policies and guidelines
5. Interpret and link coordination of services within the healthcare system to improve health in Sri Lanka
6. Describe the global health perspectives
You will be doing this module during Terms 10, 11 and 12.
On completion of this module, you should be able to,
1. Perform clinical and non-clinical assessments to determine the health status and underlying factors of a family related to lifestyle, nutritional status, growth and physical and psychosocial development, communicable & non-communicable diseases, and disability
2. Identify the health needs of a given family
3. Assess the accessibility and utilization of available health resources including healthcare services
4. Develop a plan of management for individuals with illness/health conditions within the context of the family
5. Carry out measures to improve health and health-related behaviour of the family, physical and social factors that influence health
6. Provide first contact healthcare under supervision, including writing referral letters wherever necessary
7. Develop skills to change the behaviour of the family to promote their own health
8. Develop favorable attitudes in caring for individuals and family
